Afraid for My Family

Afraid for My Family

If I told you that I truly fear for the physical safety of my family, would you think less of me for fighting hard to keep them away from danger? If I told you that I need help protecting them, would you think less of me for arguing forcefully in my plea to convince others that my fear is legitimate? This IS my present condition.

On November 8 everything will change. If God truly does stand behind the thrones of men then the next throne change will say a lot about His view of us and our use of His 5-talent blessing (self-government).

Over the last few months, I have been very outspoken about the upcoming election. While many in my profession have once again used the excuse that speaking out on politics is too divisive, I have concluded just the opposite. God is sifting His people. The greatest unity we can experience is when we allow His values to impact EVERY realm of our existence, including self-government. To remain silent on this issue is to intentionally engage in bi-polar Christianity. We must not bury our talent in the ground.

This is my last eNewsletter before election day. I deeply pray that you will give serious consideration to these 6 simple points.

6 Keys to Political Activism

Psalm 33:12-13,16,18,20 (NIV) "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord... [13] From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; [16] No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. [18] But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, [20] We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield."

Our God is watching. He examines every expression of righteousness. To keep America from disaster, God's people must be A.C.T.I.V.E.

"A" is for ask. There is nothing we can do that will be more effective than to seek God's blessing on America. We must examine our hearts. We must repent of Christian compromise and pray. We must ask God to heal our land.

"C" is for contact. After praying for God's blessing, we must stand up and be counted for the values held by our founding fathers and mothers. We must contact our lawmakers, political representatives, and standard setters. It is vital that they know our deep convictions and the priority we place on putting God's values first.

"T" is for teach. If America is to survive, America's parents must begin to teach their children about God's plan for the family and His eternal standard that never goes out of date. Parents must readjust their priority list. Secular education has importance, but if our children gain the whole world yet lose their soul, what has it profited them? (Matthew 16:26) We must teach our children to seek God first. (Matthew 6:33)

"I" is for informed. Many Christians are inactive because too often they are uninformed about the political world around them. Our parents always voted along certain party lines and so, without investigating for ourselves, we do the same. We must be more responsible with the great gift of self-government. We must be educated and informed.

"V" is for vote. One of the greatest favors we can do for America is to vote for those who will vote for God. Unlike the masses of Christians who were horribly abused in the First Century, God has blessed us with the opportunity to select our political leaders. Surely, He must be greatly disappointed when we squander this great advantage. It is our duty to use this advantage to His advantage! Stand up for God. We must vote our values!

"E" is for encourage. There are literally hundreds of God-centered ministries all across the nation that are fighting to inform and rally a righteous revival. We need your encouragement. We need your prayers and financial support.

Conclusion

No one will deny that this election season has been anything but ideal. In fact, it has been downright despicable! But what are we going to do? Are we going to boycott this election because none of the candidates seem very godly? If that is your intention, please consider the following biblical examples and the obvious applications they suggest.

Joseph served with Pharaoh, a polytheist, and he helped preserve God's people.

Daniel served with Nebuchadnezzar, a self-proclaimed deity, and he helped preserve God's people.

Esther served with Xerxes, a pagan King, and she helped preserve God's people.

Much like the ancient Hebrews, we did not choose our place in history. Read Acts 17:26-27. We were placed in America by God's foreknowledge. We are the recipients of a 5-talent blessing (self-government) and He rightly expects big returns on His investment. If Joseph, Daniel, and Esther could work within a pagan system to honor God's values, I expect He would desire no less of us.

Don't bury your talent in the ground. You have been blessed with great elective opportunity. Take initiative. Put it to work for God!

A wise man once said, "Stand for something or you will fall for anything." And so goes the future of America. If we, as Christians, will take it upon ourselves to stand up for a return to the values held by our founding fathers, America can be healed and prosperity will be the result. If, instead, we continue to remain seated, our children's future will be very bleak.

It's time to stand! It's time to be A.C.T.I.V.E.
